 KL MOUNTAIN BIKE CARNIVAL took place on 7th & 8th JULY 2012.
Taman Lembah Kiara, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, Kuala Lumpur RACE REPORT It was a great weekend out for Mountain Bikers from all ages and walks of life as close to 1000 bikers, parents and supporters turned up to take part and support the 10th Edition of the KL Mountain Bike Carnival via the RACE Carnival, RIDE Carnival and KIDZ Ride over the 7th & 8th July weekend at Taman Lembah Kiara, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail. This event is sponsored by Astro, Maxis and Tanjong.  The KIDZ Ride on Saturday morning saw children from as young as 1 year plus to 10 years; taking part in just a simple ride around the parking lot (3 years and under), to an obstacle course (4 to 6 year olds) and a fast race around the park (7 to 10 year olds). All children walked away with a Junior Rider medal, a goodie bag and Little Riders balloon on their day out and some were lucky to walk home with lucky draw prizes sponsored by Little Riders, Corezone and Quick Release Adventures. Thanks to all the parents who came out to encourage their children by helping them along and also supporting the event. The RIDE Carnival was an easy going ride within the beautiful trails of Bukit Kiara, covering between 7 to 15km's for the experienced and not so experienced riders wanting to just enjoy a ride with fellow mountain bikers on a Saturday morning. The Ride ended with a yummy brunch and lucky draw session, with all riders taking home a goodie bag too.  The RACE Carnival saw mountain bikers from as young as 13 years racing over the two days. The Men's 36 to 40 race took over this year as one of the more competitive Men's age group races, with a heats to qualify for the finals taking place early Sunday morning. In the Women's Elite race, defending champion Kusmawati Yazid from Indonesia took home the 1st place trophy once again, as well as the best lucky draw prize of a Ciclista convertible wind breaker. In the Men's Elite race, Bandi Sugito also from Indonesia, who is no stranger to this event also managed to defend his 2011 title by bagging 1st place for the 6th time over the 10 years that this event has been held.
